It always irritates me when Conservatives refer to the "liberal elite" - as if that term has any meaning. Presumably, they are trying to say that liberals tell other people how to live their lives - which is actually the opposite of what happens. Liberals tolerate the choices people make and the lifestyles they choose to lead. Conservatives tell people they can't be gay, can't have abortions, can't study evolution or do anything else that is simply different from what they have decided. Liberals fight against those that would otherwise restrict choice while Conservatives fight to make the actual choices for others. 

 

If you make your living burglarizing houses and I tell you to stop, I am not an elite liberal - I am right and you are wrong. 

 

As luck would have it, I have recently discovered NOFX, the great old-school punk band that somehow eluded my radar screen all these years. Besides the great tunes, I appreciate their social awareness and lyrics and they are not shy about speaking their mind. You can imagine how pleased I was to stumble across this video, which doesn't beat around the bush and how cool it will be to see them live this fall at Irving Plaza.
